All you need to know about hosting a Winter Warmers event is included on this page:

What is Winter Warmers?
It’s all about getting together, keeping warm, and supporting a great cause!
Winter Warmers is an opportunity for you to host a fun and simple winter gathering with friends or colleagues. At the same time raise awareness of, and funds for, Family Planning International’s work to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights in the Pacific.
If you belong to a community group, why not consider hosting a Winter Warmers event as part of the groups regular social gathering?
When do I host my Winter Warmers event?
Your Winter Warmers event can take place throughout the season of Winter and because New Zealand is notorious for its cold springs, you can choose any date that best suits you and your guests between 1 July to 30 November 2009!
Who should I invite?
This is your event so invite whoever you want but if you are already a member of a community group, you might like to consider getting your group involved. Determine the size of your event and invite people accordingly. Remember to take into consideration the size of the venue. For example, if you are having a movie night at home then you will need to limit the numbers to the size of your lounge!
Where should I host my Winter Warmers event?
You can hold your event wherever you like. You don't have to restrict yourself to having it at home. You can have it anywhere from a restaurant, to your workplace, to an event hall. However, most people feel more comfortable hosting their event at home – and it’s free!
What should I do for my Winter Warmers event?
The event can be whatever you want to make it. Refer to our Winter Warmers Event Ideas for some suggestions of the types of things that you can host, or be as creative as you like and come up with your own themed event! Some examples of events include: movie nights, cheese and wine nights, and game nights. See our suggested list of event ideas.
How do I go about raising money at my event?
Charging an entrance fee to your event is a good place to start. Raffle tickets to win donated prizes can also be sold at your event and you can discuss how the group can make a difference by making a donation. Family Planning International will provide you with a Winter Warmers ‘Host Pack’ which will include everything you will need to host a successful event, including fact sheets about sexual and reproductive health and rights issues in the Pacific that may help you start a discussion about the issues.
Donating can be a very private matter but if guests are unsure, take the lead in donating first and let everyone know the amount that you have donated so that they might follow. Blank envelopes can be used for anonymous donations.
How much am I expected to raise and how?
Amounts raised may vary. Whether it is $100 or $10,000 dollars, every contribution received will help Family Planning International advance access to sexual and reproductive health and rights in the Pacific. Family Planning International is a registered charity and all donations over $5 are eligible for GST tax receipt.
What should I do after collecting the funds?
Information on how to collect donations and return them to Family Planning International will be included in the ‘Winter Warmers Host Pack’. Cheques or credit card transaction requests can be posted and Family Planning International will process and send out GST receipts.
How do I organise my event?
All the information you need to organise your Winter Warmers event is included in the ‘Winter Warmers Host Pack’ which will posted to you when you register an event. If you are facing any difficulties with organising your event, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help! Check out what is inside the Winter Warmers Host Pack.
